What is IDDSI?
From March 2019, you might notice some changes to our Wiltshire Farm Foods Softer Foods range.
This is because the NHS has changed its criteria for categorising different diet textures for people with swallowing difficulties, so we are updating our range in line with this latest advice. These changes include new names and requirements for food textures.
IDDSI (The International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) will make sure that globally, we are all working together, using the same terminology and standards in the categorisation and development of texture modified foods for people with swallowing difficulties.
So what are the changes?
From March 2019, you will see some product improvements as well as new range names within the Softer Foods selection in our brochures, website and on the meal labels (example label below):
• We are changing the names and improving the meals in line with the latest guidance from healthcare professionals within two of our ranges (Formerly Categories C & D).
• We are introducing a brand-new range to replace our former Category E dishes.
Our Softer Foods meals are still safe, delicious, nutritious dishes which you can enjoy every day.

Then from March 2019, we will use updated names for our Softer Foods ranges. You might also notice some associated meal improvements. But don’t worry, our meals will remain as delicious, safe and easy to enjoy as before. Please see below how IDDSI will affect our ranges:

This range has been specifically created in line with latest guidance from healthcare professionals for those who previously required a Category E (Fork Mashable) diet.
